Facts & Myths

Learn the facts and misleading myths about hypnosis, its process and effectiveness.

MYTH 1: Hypnotherapy is a loss of control
FACT:

During hypnosis, you do not lose control over your mind. On the contrary — you are in a state of deep relaxation but remain fully aware of what is happening. A hypnotherapist cannot force you to do anything you don't want to do.

MYTH 2: You can reveal your secrets during hypnosis
FACT:

During hypnotherapy, you won’t say anything you don’t want to say. You are conscious and fully in control of your words — it is deep relaxation, not a lack of awareness.

MYTH 3: Hypnotherapy is just a stage trick
FACT:

Stage hypnosis, known from entertainment shows, is entirely different from professional hypnotherapy. The goal of therapeutic hypnosis is to help change subconscious beliefs, habits, and emotions — not to entertain.

MYTH 4: You can get stuck in hypnosis forever
FACT:

It is impossible to get stuck in hypnosis. Even if the hypnotherapist stops speaking, the person will either open their eyes and come out of the relaxed state or simply fall asleep and wake up naturally.

MYTH 5: Hypnotherapy is a "magic wand"
FACT:

Hypnotherapy is not magic — it is a therapeutic process that requires commitment and openness to change. It does not solve problems instantly. Success depends on the client’s willingness to work through internal blocks.

MYTH 6: You lose consciousness during hypnosis
FACT:

Hypnosis is not sleep. While the body is relaxed, the mind remains conscious. Most people remember everything that happens during the session. In fact, many think “it didn’t work” because they felt too aware — but that is entirely normal.

MYTH 7: Hypnosis is mind control
FACT:

Hypnotherapy has nothing to do with mind control. A person in hypnosis will never do anything against their will. The hypnotherapist simply helps uncover and change beliefs and emotions the client is ready to work on.

MYTH 8: You must believe in hypnosis for it to work
FACT:

Skepticism is not a barrier — all that is needed is an open attitude and willingness to collaborate. Even those who initially doubt hypnotherapy can achieve positive results.

MYTH 9: Hypnosis is dangerous for mental health
FACT:

Hypnosis is a safe tool, especially when conducted by a qualified professional. It helps with emotional healing and stress reduction. Rather than worsening mental health, it supports therapeutic processes.
